Sweet Inspiration
Oh, Monday morning...sometimes the idea of staying under the covers is so hard to resist! Especially when we are having such strange and gloomy weather today. My cup of coffee isn't quite enough to get me going this morning but these cakes by the talented Maggie Austin are just the right amount of sweet that I need! My favorite one has the be the pink ombre with frills and if you can't tell, I am loving the frill technique on all of these cakes. Delicate and delicious!
I've been busy creating new sash designs to list in my Etsy shop. They will be listed today or tomorrow but here is a sneak peak...I hope you like them!

Etsy Giveaway
The lovely Morgan at La Chapstick Fanatique contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I might be interested in doing a giveaway on her blog. She was scouring Etsy and came across my shop. See, Morgan recently got married herself, so she knows all about planning a wedding and trying to find the perfect accessories. So of course I was happy to help her readers!
The contest ends tomorrow, March 17th, at 7pm EST. The winner receives a $100 credit to use in the SND Etsy shop or towards a custom design. For more information and to enter, please visit Morgan's wonderful blog here. While you're there, check out her Francophile Friday posts, which are some of my favorites! Her blog has become one of my daily reads and it's an honor to work with her on this giveaway!
Good luck to all who enter...I can't wait to see who wins!
Cheers!

Monday Morning Inspiration
As a designer I find inspiration almost anywhere! I constantly read books/blogs, research fashion and art, listen to music or just go for a walk. Any of these activities can spark my creativity. So this morning while reading one of my favorite wedding blogs, Style Me Pretty, it happened!!
This is an old savings bank building called Skylight One Hanson. Located in Brooklyn, NY, the building boasts 40 foot windows and art-deco details. This is definitely a grand space for a grand event! And a grand event calls for grand attire; bridal gown sash included!
I sourced a new trim last week and this photo has given me inspiration for a new design...I can't wait to show you photos!
What inspires you?

New Etsy Listing - Jewel Sash
I just listed this sash on Etsy!! I've been toying with color and handmade flowers recently so I am glad that I finally get to show everyone what I have been working on. I really like how this sash turned out - a peacock feather pad, handmade flowers of silk dupioni and double faced satin ribbon, a rhinestone center detail all hand stitched to a double faced satin ribbon in black.
A perfect complement to a ring pillow I made for a photo shoot for Charlotte Wedding Magazine.
What sort of statement piece(s) are you wearing on your wedding day?

Inspiration
I'm constantly reading wedding blogs, flipping through magazines, and doing research related to creating sashes. Any number of things can inspire me and since bridal gown sashes have surged in popularity the past few seasons, there is no shortage of eye candy. I love texture, layers, bling and delicate embroidery. Recently, I have wanted to add more texture to my designs so sashes like this Enzoani sash are a great design inspiration.
Do you find the large floral design too much? Do you prefer bling or a floral design?
I would love to know your thoughts!

Ashley & Nate
Ashley & Nate were married this past October in picturesque Charleston, SC. The bride chose an uber chic black and white color palette and accented with pale pinks and greens. I was honored to add to Ashley's wedding day style by constructing a custom sash to compliment her San Patrick bridal gown. From the beginning, Ashley knew that she wanted to accent her gown with a black sash that had some sort of detail. We met on several occasions to try different options with her fit-to-flare organza gown purchased through J Major's Bridal Boutique. Her final decision was a glamorous 1" rhinestone encrusted trim that was hand stitched to a 2" double faced satin ribbon in black. Check out these amazing wedding photos by Jennifer Bearden Photography!

Love the little ring bearer!

Such a sweet moment...

Thank you to Jennifer Bearden for the amazing photos! Congratulations Ashley & Nate!!
