A Typical Day at SheaNichole Designs

Instead of just being a blog, I thought I would show you a little bit of what I do.

I don't have a "studio" but I do have an amazing sun room that I have converted into a work space. Even if it is overcast outside there is still plenty of bright light!

As you can tell in the photo, there is not a lot of space! I enjoy working in an area that inspires me, so even though I had a limited amount of space to work with, I didn't want to feel uninspired when I was in the room. I had to think creatively and utilize the space in a way that is conducive to my work habits.

I have converted two drafting tables into work areas. One serves as a desk and/or sewing machine table and the other is a pressing table/supply table. I use most of the floor space as my cutting area....I know...this is so bad! Along the opposite wall (the only wall that does not have windows, but does have a door) sits a bookshelf and stackable storage for fabrics and other design supplies. I even have stackable storage under the majority of my windows! But, I totally love the work area....I guess you could say I "made it work!"

Below are a couple of photos of my order process. This order was for 14 pocket squares produced in garnet diva satin from Bill Levkoff. Here you see a handmade pattern for a 7x7 pocket square, cutting supplies, and the 14 pocket squares that are cut, pinned, and ready to be sewn.

This is a photo of the almost finished pocket squares. They have been stitched together, pressed and are ready to be hand sewn closed. After they are complete, they will be packaged neatly in custom SND boxes.

Well, I hope you enjoyed a typical day at SND!!!! If you are interested in more information regarding product availability, please visit the SheaNichole Designs Website.

Molly - 5.24.2008

Everyone at this wedding looks like they had the time of their lives! Smiles everywhere...

I had the pleasure of working with Molly to create sashes for her bridesmaids and flower girls. Her maids of honor wore champagne Bill Levkoff gowns and her bridesmaid's wore black cocktail length gowns with a custom SheaNichole Designs sash to complement the champagne palette. The flower girls had complimentary black satin sashes for their gowns.

Look at how stunning Molly looks and I love the chic color palette!

Here is what Molly had to say:

"Shea- We were so happy with the sashes you made for our girls- they looked great on the variety of black dresses. Thank you for your work"

It was a pleasure!

Thanks Molly!

Updates

Hi All! So sorry for the lack of posting lately! I've been busy with gathering new ideas for the blog and I am still in the process of getting my business card design finalized. With tons of stuff to do, posting has been pushed to the side. In the next few weeks I hope to be up and running on a regular basis! But for now...please enjoy the Feature Friday post!

OH! I hope to have some photos posted soon from the Gala for Breast Cancer Research that was hosted by J Major's Bridal Boutique! The Gala was AMAZING!!! It was a wonderful night of fashion, dancing, decor, and more!

Juli - 04.28.07

Juli was SND's very first client and one of my favorites! I loved working on her custom bridal gown sash and bow which was a reproduction of a Vera Wang sash she had seen in a bridal magazine. It was created using silk dupioni in a light petal pink color. Two separate pieces created the sash; there was the actual sash that ruched in the front, tied in a square knot in the back and had wide hand frayed sash tails. The second piece was the show stopper...it was a large bow (or flower) that sat atop the square knot and added a stunning detail to the back of the gown. Juli finished off the sash with a beautiful rhinestone broach she purchased from a vintage shop. The sash and bow were defiantly the focal point of the gown, so Juli opted for a simple A-line silhouette gown from Mikaella in silk dupioni.

Enjoy!

Up and Running!!!

As you see, SheaNichole Designs (aka: SND) has undergone several changes...and for the better!

If you are reading this blog, it means you have visited the new and improved website! The website color scheme has changed and the pages have become easier to navigate. SND has taken the minimalist approach and hopefully visitors and clients will find the website user friendly and appealing.

In January SND will celebrate it's second year, so to prepare SND has undergone several cosmetic transformations...color changes, graphic changes, and new business cards, which are in the works...even better, they are professional! A more mature/classy look is needed since SND's birthday is approaching quite quickly!

SND is also working on this new blog!!! What better way to stay in touch with old, current, and perspective clients??? It's better than a newsletter (which would most likely end up in your spam box) and you can subscribe or unsubscribe anytime you wish! SND will keep you posted on current designs, the hottest colors, new fabrics, and best of all, the blog will include a "real brides" feature with photos of SND's work.

And speaking of photos...a portfolio of SND's work will soon be available for client review at J Major's Bridal Boutique.

Well, SND hopes you like the revamped look...enjoy!

Cheers!
